What does ComfiSkin know about me?

Privacy, in plain words.

We spend our days reading ingredient labels, so we wrote our own the same way: what ComfiSkin uses, what each thing is for, and where you can turn it off.

Updated 2 October 2026. This page is shorter than a CVS receipt.

The short version

Where are my skin notes kept?

Your skin notes are saved on your phone.

Your skin profile, shelf, routines, check-ins, journal and photos are saved on your phone. ComfiSkin uses them to check each product against your skin. When you photograph a label, the text is read on the phone as well.

You can export a backup at any time. The backup is protected by a password you choose, and it is saved wherever you decide to keep it.

What’s in it

  • Ingredients you avoid

What happens when I scan a product?

The app looks the product up in our catalog.

When you scan a barcode or search for a name, the app sends that barcode or search to our catalog and receives the product in return. The match with your skin is then worked out on your phone. The catalog is too large to store on a phone, so each lookup goes to our servers.

What’s in it
  • The barcode
  • The words you search

How long
A few minutes, so that a repeated lookup is answered faster.

How does Find choose products for me?

Find learns from your shelf and what you browse.

Find shows products that fit your skin type, your routine and the brands you already use. It learns from your shelf and from what you open, save and hide, so the picks become more relevant over time.

Find also learns from people with similar skin. Products that suited them help choose your picks, and your activity helps choose theirs. This activity is sent to ComfiSkin under a random ID.

What’s in it
  • Skin type and concerns
  • Shelf and routine
  • What you open, save and hide
  • Your country, to show products sold there
Where it goes
ComfiSkin, under a random ID
How long
Up to 12 months. If you delete it, it is removed from our systems within a day and from backups within 35 days.
Your controls
Settings → Recommendations lets you turn picks off, delete what has been shared, or start a fresh feed.

Why does the app ask for my city?

Today uses your city to show the weather.

Today only needs the name of a city, which is less than most weather apps ask for. It shows the current weather there and adjusts its advice to match. For example, it suggests more sunscreen when the UV is high and a richer moisturiser when the air is dry.

What’s in it
  • The city you choose
Where it goes
Weather services MET Norway provides the forecast, and Photon finds the city by name.
Your controls
Settings → Window weather turns the weather off.

What happens when I tap a shop?

A shop link opens the shop’s own page.

ComfiSkin lists the shops that sell a product in your country, with their prices. Tapping a shop opens that shop’s page. Some shops pay ComfiSkin a commission when you buy through a link, and the commission does not change the price you pay. It pays for the servers, which means nobody has to chase you around the internet with a moisturiser you already bought.

After the shop’s page opens, the shop’s own privacy policy applies.

What’s in it
  • Your country
  • The link you tapped
Where it goes
The shop The affiliate network that records the visit also receives it.

What does the app send when it connects?

Each connection includes an internet address.

Every request from the app carries your phone’s internet address and a random ID for that copy of the app. The app store also confirms that the app is genuine. ComfiSkin uses these to keep the service fast and to block automated abuse. The website receives your internet address in the same way.

What’s in it
  • Internet address
  • Random app ID
  • The app store’s check that the app is genuine

Can I see, export or delete my data?

You can export or delete your data at any time.

Most of this is done in the app. Settings → Delete my data removes everything saved on the phone. Settings → Recommendations deletes what Find has shared. For any other request, email hello@comfi.skin and we will reply within 30 days.

These options are the same in every country. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.

ComfiSkin uses your data for three reasons: a feature you turned on needs it, you gave permission, or it is needed to keep the service secure.

Is there anything else I should know?

There are three more things to know.

  • Age. ComfiSkin is for people aged 13 and over.
  • Changes. If this page changes in a way that affects you, the app will tell you before the change takes effect.
  • Contact. ComfiSkin runs the app and this website. You can reach us at hello@comfi.skin.

Where are the terms?

The terms are on the next page, and they are just as short.
