The short answer

Charm’s privacy policy says your data “is retained on your device and is not collected by me in any way”. Its App Store privacy label lists health, photos and sensitive info as linked to you, and identifiers and usage data used to track you. It sells subscriptions up to $44.99 a year, its terms say “No refunds are offered”, and its developer website just says “Launching Soon”.

What that means: you can’t tell what Charm really does with your health data and photos, and if you regret paying, its terms say tough luck. ComfiSkin is free, and genuinely keeps your notes on your phone.

Two descriptions of your data that can’t both be true

Charm’s undated privacy policy says your data “is retained on your device and is not collected by me in any way”.2 Its App Store privacy label says something very different: health, photos or videos and sensitive info are linked to your identity, and identifiers and usage data are used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.1

Health details and photos are the most sensitive things a skincare app can hold. When the policy and the label contradict each other, you can’t know which describes what actually happens. ComfiSkin keeps your skin profile, routine, check-ins and photos on your phone, and doesn’t track you.

What that means for you: Charm’s own documents disagree about whether your health data and photos leave your phone. ComfiSkin’s don’t.

Subscriptions with no refunds

Charm’s US listing sells monthly plans at $4.99 and $7.49, six-month plans at $17.99 and $26.99, and yearly plans at $29.99 and $44.99.1 Its terms say subscriptions are “SUBJECT TO AUTOMATIC RENEWALS” and “No refunds are offered”.3 When we checked, 8 of its 50 most recent US App Store reviews gave one or two stars.4

“I was charged 25 dollars and for what ?”
App Store review, November 20224
“…require you to commit to paying after a short free trial”
App Store review, September 20254

ComfiSkin has no subscription, no trial and no refund policy, because there’s nothing to pay for.

What that means for you: forget a trial and you’re paying, with terms that say you won’t get it back.

What to do if you use Charm

  1. Check whether you’re paying. On an iPhone, go to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Apple may still refund you, whatever Charm’s terms say.
  2. Think twice before adding health details or photos. Its documents disagree about where they go.
  3. Move your routine into ComfiSkin. Free, and it checks your products too.
