ComfiSkin vs routine tracker apps

Small skincare tracker apps keep a list of your routine. Most can’t tell you whether a product suits your skin, many charge for the useful parts, and some have stopped being updated. ComfiSkin tracks your routine and checks every product, for free.

The short answer

Most small routine trackers are digital checklists. Skincare Routine by Mento Apps only preloads one company’s brands. SkinLog limits daily scans unless you pay. SkinLattice charges $34.99 a year for its deeper views. GlowinMe hasn’t been updated since December 2024, and users report losing their data. Skinpal requires a subscription after a 14-day trial.

What that means: you end up typing in your own products, paying for the useful parts, or trusting an app nobody is looking after. ComfiSkin tracks your routine, checks every product against your skin and your week, and is free.

A checklist can’t check anything

Most of these apps record what you use and when. That’s useful, but it leaves the hard parts to you: whether a new product suits your skin, whether two strong products clash on the same night, and whether something is past its best. Skincare Routine by Mento Apps is a good example. It preloads only DECIEM’s brands, such as The Ordinary, and reviewers using anything else find themselves typing everything in. When we checked, 12 of its 50 most recent US reviews gave one or two stars.1

“This app is worthless for people that use products outside of the Ordinary.”
App Store review of Skincare Routine, April 20241

ComfiSkin reads any product from its barcode or label, checks it against your skin and avoid list, watches your week for clashes and moves products to safer nights, and counts down from opened dates.

What that means for you: a tracker remembers what you did. ComfiSkin also tells you whether it was a good idea.

The useful parts often cost extra

SkinLog limits daily scans on its free tier and sells “Premium Features” at $9.99 and $0.99 without saying for how long.2 SkinLattice puts its deeper views and reports behind Pro, at $5.99 a month or $34.99 a year.3 Skinpal requires a subscription after a 14-day trial, at $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year.5

ComfiSkin has no tiers and no limits. Every feature is free, for everyone.

What that means for you: with most trackers, the free version is a preview. With ComfiSkin, it’s the whole app.

Some aren’t being looked after, or say different things about your data

GlowinMe hasn’t been updated since 21 December 2024, and recent reviews describe getting stuck at email verification and losing data. One reviewer wrote: “I updated my email and lost two years of it worth of data.” Its App Store label lists your email as used for marketing.4 Skinpal’s App Store label lists only basic account data, while its Google Play listing also lists precise location, health information and photos, and its privacy policy says anonymised data may be kept indefinitely for research.6,7

ComfiSkin is actively maintained, needs no account or email, and keeps your skin profile, routine and photos on your phone, with a password-protected backup you control.

What that means for you: two years of notes can disappear with one email change. In ComfiSkin, there’s no email to change.
