ComfiSkin vs INKEEDecoder
INKEEDecoder, which you may know as INCIDecoder, is a website that explains ingredient lists you paste into it. It explains words, not whether you should buy the product. ComfiSkin reads the label in the shop and gives you that answer.
The short answer
INKEEDecoder explains ingredients, but it has no idea who you are. You paste a list and it describes the words. It can’t tell you whether the product suits your skin, clashes with your routine or duplicates something you own. And its founder co-owns a skincare brand.
What that means: you still have to work out the answer yourself, standing in a shop, typing an ingredient list into your phone. ComfiSkin gives you the answer in one scan.

Information isn’t an answer
INKEEDecoder works like a dictionary. You bring it an ingredient list, usually by copying or typing it in, and it explains what each ingredient does. That’s where it stops. It doesn’t know who’s asking, what’s on their shelf, or which nights they use their retinol. Knowing that niacinamide “evens skin tone” and glycerin “hydrates” still leaves the real question: should I buy this?
That gap is where the mistakes happen. People leave the shop with products that clash with their routine, duplicate what they already own, or contain the very ingredient that broke them out last time, all after “researching” every word on the label.
ComfiSkin does the work. Point your phone at the bottle and the answer is about your skin: the ingredients you avoid come first, and you’ll see a warning if it doubles up with something you own. Once it’s on your shelf, ComfiSkin checks your week for clashes and reminds you when it’s past its best.
What that means for you: you leave the shop with the right product, not with homework.
Why INCIDecoder changed its name
In May 2024, the Personal Care Products Council, the US industry group behind the “INCI” naming system for cosmetic ingredients, filed a trademark lawsuit against the site’s founder.2 The site says the dispute “has since been resolved, and as a result, INCIDecoder is now INKEEDecoder.”1 The old address redirects to the new one.
What that means for you: it’s the same site with a new name, and the same limits.
The person explaining your serum also sells serum
INKEEDecoder’s About page discloses that its founder co-owns a Hungarian skincare brand, Geek & Gorgeous, and runs a skincare webshop, Skinsmart.hu.3 It’s to the site’s credit that it says so, and we’ve seen nothing to suggest it affects what the site says. But it’s worth knowing who’s behind the explanations you rely on. ComfiSkin doesn’t make, own or sell any skincare.
What that means for you: the person explaining your serum has a stake in the skincare business. ComfiSkin has none.
