A TroveSkin alternative

TroveSkin has vanished from the app stores, and many people lost their routines, expiry dates and progress photos with it. ComfiSkin keeps all of that on your phone, with a backup you control, so it can’t happen again.

The short answer

TroveSkin disappeared from both app stores and took people’s routines, expiry dates and progress photos with it. Users who relied on it were simply locked out, with no way to get their history back.

What that means: if your skin history lives on somebody else’s server, it can disappear overnight. In ComfiSkin it lives on your phone, with a password-protected backup you control.

TroveSkin is gone

When we checked, TroveSkin’s App Store and Google Play pages both returned “not found”, and Apple’s app directory had no record of it.1 A French App Store mirror lists it as no longer available, with its last update on 8 November 2023.2 For the people who used it every day, there was no farewell and no easy way out.

What that means for you: if you still have TroveSkin installed, it’s living on borrowed time. Get your routine out of it while you can.

They didn’t just lose an app. They lost the record.

A skincare app slowly turns into a diary. Months of dates, notes and photos pile up: which products worked, which ones broke you out, when you started the retinol. When an app keeps all of that on its own servers, your records last only as long as the company does. When it changes plans or shuts down, the history goes with it, usually without warning.

It keeps happening. When the beauty inventory app Snupps disappeared, one user wrote: “All my data is unretrievable.”4

What that means for you: years of notes about what works for your skin can vanish because a company changed its plans.

Your history belongs on your phone

ComfiSkin saves your skin profile, shelf, routines, check-ins, journal and photos on your phone, not on someone else’s server.5 There’s no sign-up, so there’s no login that can stop working. Export a backup whenever you like, locked with a password you choose, and keep it wherever you want.5 Your history depends on you, not on a company’s plans.

What that means for you: no company can lock you out of your own skin history.

Starting again

  1. Scan what’s on your shelf. Point your camera at each product’s barcode or label.
  2. Set your mornings and evenings. ComfiSkin checks your week for clashing products as you go.
  3. Add the opened dates you remember, and save a backup. Guess the dates you’ve lost. ComfiSkin counts down from there, and your backup means you won’t lose them twice.
