Why not put it on straight away?
Microneedling makes tiny punctures in the skin and triggers a healing response. The early recovery period includes temporary disruption of the skin barrier, the outer layer that helps protect your skin. Redness, dryness, swelling and inflammatory breakouts can occur during recovery. That makes the choice of aftercare more specific than choosing an everyday hydrating serum.134
The US Bubble Serum contains retinol as well as niacinamide, PDRN, collagen and moisturising ingredients. Tell your clinician about the retinol before restarting it, particularly if your treatment plan includes pausing retinoids such as retinol or tretinoin. Medicube markets the Bubble Serum for hydration, plumpness and radiance.25
How long should you wait?
There is no single restart time for every microneedling procedure. Aftercare depends on the treatment and needle depth. Some facial needling protocols allow ordinary topical products the next day. A hospital scar treatment protocol instead permits only its prescribed cooling gel for the first 24 hours, followed by a simple moisturiser three to four times daily. Follow your own clinic's schedule rather than treating 24 hours as automatic permission to use Medicube.14
A moisturiser can be applied immediately as part of a clinician's microneedling protocol. That is a different decision from adding your usual serum at home. Ask for the name of the product to use, when to start cleansing, and the date you can resume your normal routine.16
What should you do after your appointment?
- 1Use the prescribed aftercare product on the clinic's schedule. Do not add Medicube during a period when only that product is allowed.
- 2Keep the treated area clean. Use a gentle cleanser when your aftercare plan allows cleansing, and use the recommended moisturiser for dryness or flaking.
- 3Stay out of the sun while your skin heals and follow your clinician's sunscreen instructions. Sun protection remains part of care after the initial recovery period.
- 4Follow the clinic's restrictions on makeup, swimming, hot water and exercise. Makeup waiting periods range from 24 hours in general facial guidance to 72 hours in the hospital scar protocol.
- 5Before restarting Medicube, show your clinician the exact bottle and ingredient list. Ask separately about restarting any prescription skincare.
How do you use the Bubble Serum once cleared?
Medicube tells you to shake the bottle, apply an appropriate amount evenly over the face, and gently massage until absorbed. Its ordinary directions allow daily morning and evening use, before moisturiser and sunscreen. Those are the routine directions to return to once your clinician clears the serum, not instructions for freshly treated skin. The product name gives PDRN, collagen and bubbles equal billing; your aftercare routine does not need the whole cast, which is a surprisingly elaborate guest list for one bottle.2
What is normal, and when should you call?
Mild burning, tightness, redness or darker colouring, swelling and flaking can follow microneedling. These reactions usually settle within a few days to a week. Visible improvement from microneedling develops gradually, with full results taking several months; immediate dryness is a recovery issue, not a reason to add more serum.57
Contact your treating clinician if bleeding lasts longer than 24 hours, blisters appear, or swelling continues beyond a week. Also contact the clinic if you suspect an infection, a wound forms, or new pustules develop. Do not try to manage these changes by adding Medicube PDRN.137
