How to apply the serum

1. 1Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, rinse thoroughly and gently pat dry.
2. 2If you use toner, apply it after cleansing and before the serum. Toner is optional.
3. 3Apply a few drops of serum evenly over your face, or to the areas you want to hydrate. Gently pat until absorbed.
4. 4Apply moisturizer after the serum. Moisturizer helps hold moisture in your skin rather than letting it evaporate.
5. 5In the morning, apply sunscreen after moisturizer, then makeup if you wear it. At night, finish with moisturizer.

Choose broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. For time outdoors, choose water resistance too, and reapply every two hours while outdoors. A moisturizer with sunscreen can serve both roles if it offers broad spectrum coverage and SPF 30 or higher.7

Can you apply more than one layer?

Anua suggests two to three layers at night as an optional way to leave skin feeling smooth and refreshed. Start with the standard few drops rather than treating extra layers as a requirement. Introduce fewer new products at once, especially if your skin is sensitive, so you can identify which product causes a reaction.56

Anua also suggests blending the serum into foundation for a glowy finish. Anua calls the look "glass skin", which describes the finish rather than a request to become a window.1

What should you expect?

The serum is designed for hydration, a moisture plumping feel and a dewy appearance, with a lightweight texture that absorbs quickly. Anua reports temporary improvements in hydration and plumping after one use. Think of the immediate effect as moisturized looking skin, not a timetable for removing wrinkles or dark spots. Cosmetic skincare produces modest changes, not the results of a facelift.167

Where does the spray fit?

Anua's full PDRN set includes cleanser, toner, serum, spray and cream, which is quite a committee for hydration. Within that set, Anua places the spray after the serum and before the cream. The spray can also be used after cleansing as a toner alternative or before and after makeup. Spray evenly over the face when skin feels dry; Anua says there is no need to shake it.23

What if you use prescriptions or have sensitive skin?

As general routine guidance, apply skin medication or treatment immediately after cleansing, before moisturizer and sunscreen. Keep prescribed treatment in that position rather than moving it behind the cream to make room for the serum. Ask your dermatologist about the order if your prescription has specific application instructions.4

Test a new product first and avoid adding several new products together. Using too many products, particularly multiple products aimed at skin aging, can irritate skin. If irritation or a rash develops, stop using the product and make an appointment with a dermatologist rather than adding more skincare to address the reaction.45
