Where does resveratrol serum go in your routine?
- 1Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, then gently pat dry.
- 2Apply the resveratrol serum as your treatment step. Follow the label's amount rather than adding extra.
- 3Apply moisturizer. Include sunscreen in your daytime routine.
- 4Apply makeup last if you wear it, because foundation does not need to supervise the skincare.
This is general skincare layering guidance, not a special resveratrol technique. Skin medication also belongs after cleansing. If your routine includes a prescription treatment, ask your dermatologist how to fit the serum around it rather than rearranging the prescribed routine yourself. Adding several products aimed at skin aging at once can irritate skin and make signs of aging more noticeable.1
Test the serum before using it on your face
Apply a small amount to your inner forearm twice daily for four to five days. If there is no redness, itching or other reaction, you can start using it on your face. Even a product labelled hypoallergenic can cause a reaction. Introduce one new product at a time, particularly if irritation is already a concern.2
What should you expect from resveratrol?
Resveratrol is a plant compound with antioxidant and anti inflammatory activity. Topical resveratrol has potential for skincare, but the degree and timing of visible improvement from a serum alone remain uncertain. Its biological activity is a reason for interest, not a complete set of promises for every bottle.3
In an eight week trial involving healthy women aged 40 and older, wrinkle scores improved significantly with combined oral resveratrol and a topical resveratrol cream compared with placebo. The topical treatment increased sebum, the skin's natural oil. There were no significant differences in the other measured skin features, including moisture, elasticity and pigmentation. Reported adverse events were minimal and mild. The cream contained 1.5% resveratrol and was applied twice daily; that was a cream regimen, not a universal serum instruction.4
When should you stop or get advice?
Stop using the serum if it stings, burns or tingles. For a prescribed product, ask your dermatologist whether these sensations are expected before stopping it. Use only the directed amount: extra product can cause clogged pores, blotchy skin or excessive dryness. If irritation or disappointing results leave you unsure what to use, a dermatologist can help assess your routine.2
