Which should you choose?
Choose Cicaplast when you want its specific skin protectant uses: temporary relief of chapping, cracking or chafing, or protection from the drying effects of wind and cold. Those uses do not give Cicaplast a universal advantage as an everyday moisturiser, and its name is not a trophy for winning every skincare category.1
For persistent dryness, creams and ointments generally retain more water than lotions. For oily skin, a lighter gel can be a better fit than a rich moisturiser. For combination skin, moisturise the dry areas rather than automatically covering the oily areas too. These are general texture choices, not a tested performance ranking of Lipikar and Cicaplast.2
How should you use them?
For ordinary dry skin, apply moisturiser just after showering while skin is damp to help trap water. If dryness is excessive, choose a moisturiser you can comfortably use at least twice daily. Cicaplast's own directions are to apply as needed, without a fixed morning or evening schedule. Neither a precise layering order nor a recovery time is settled for this comparison.12
For eczema, use a gentle, fragrance free moisturiser immediately after bathing and as often as your dermatologist recommends. Eczema creates tiny cracks that let water escape quickly, so moisturising is part of managing the dryness, not a reason to rank these products by name.4
When should you stop?
Cicaplast is for external use only. Keep it out of your eyes, and do not use it on deep or puncture wounds, animal bites or serious burns. Stop using it and ask a doctor if the condition worsens, symptoms last more than seven days, or symptoms clear and return within a few days.1
