Both bottles hold 50 ml, so the word "Watery" has not bought you extra sunscreen. Compare prices in the same currency and market before deciding which is cheaper.12
Are you buying the right version?
Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics is now named Relief Sun: Rice + Niacinamide, with the formula and size unchanged, because even sunscreen has paperwork. This comparison uses that product's UK listing, not Relief Sun Aqua Fresh. Isntree Watery Sun Gel is unavailable in the US through Isntree because of OTC regulations. The US alternative, Hyaluronic Acid Daily Sun Gel, is a different formula with ten types of hyaluronic acid and a different UV filter blend.123
Which should you choose for your routine?
Relief Sun is the more direct fit for a moisturizer like feel and visible dewiness. Beauty of Joseon advises dry, dehydrated and normal skin to use moisturizer underneath; combination skin can add it if needed, while oily skin can skip the extra moisturizer. Choose Isntree if a fresh gel texture is your priority. Its hydrating formula still contains olive fruit oil, so "water based" does not mean oil free. Eight types of hyaluronic acid describe the formula, not eight levels of sun protection.124
How do you apply either sunscreen?
- 1Finish your other morning skincare first, then apply sunscreen as the last skincare step.
- 2Apply generously and evenly to exposed skin, including your face, neck and ears. General dermatology guidance specifies at least one teaspoon for the face; a thin layer reduces protection.
- 3Apply before going outside. General US guidance says 15 minutes before sun exposure. For prolonged exposure with a risk of burning, UK guidance advises applying 30 minutes before leaving and again just before going out.
- 4Reapply every two hours while outdoors, and immediately after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Follow the directions on your exact packaging.
Which is better for strong sun or swimming?
For swimming or heavy sweating, choose sunscreen explicitly labeled water resistant. Do not choose by cream versus gel texture. General dermatology guidance recommends SPF30 or higher with protection against both UVA and UVB, the two types of ultraviolet radiation that reach the skin. SPF mainly measures UVB protection and is not a timer for how long you can stay outside. Use shade, clothing and sunglasses too; neither texture replaces those measures.4567
What about sensitive skin and pregnancy?
Relief Sun is fragrance free and has undergone sensitive skin testing. Beauty of Joseon says pregnant people can use it, but advises checking with a doctor before adding new skincare because pregnancy can increase sensitivity. Neither sunscreen is an established better choice for preventing irritation, eye stinging, breakouts or pilling.1
Keep either bottle away from excessive heat and direct sunlight, and replace expired sunscreen. Check the packaging for its expiry and any period after opening symbol. If sunburn causes severe swelling, blisters or makes you feel unwell, seek medical help.46
