What actually differs?

SKIN1004 is the more direct match for a calming focused purchase. There is no sound basis to rank these bottles by ingredient concentration, texture or value without their complete labels and matching bottle sizes. COSRX calls its product an essence and SKIN1004 calls its product an ampoule, which gives them different titles rather than a podium finish.14

What benefits should you expect?

Centella has some human research behind its moisturizing and soothing potential. In a small trial involving 25 healthy volunteers, creams and hydrogels containing 2.5% or 5% Centella extract were applied to the forearms twice daily for four weeks. The 5% formulas performed best for hydration, reducing water loss through the skin and reducing experimentally induced inflammation. Those results belong to the tested creams and gels, not to the SKIN1004 ampoule.2

Snail extract research also gives reasons for interest, but not a reason to crown COSRX. A three month trial in 50 women aged 45 to 65 tested an Endocare routine combining snail secretion filtrate, snail egg extract and other ingredients. The active routine improved roughness, firmness and elasticity and reduced water loss. Both the active and comparison groups improved in fine lines and wrinkles. There is no confirmed timeline for either bottle in this comparison.3

SKIN1004's calming positioning makes it the more relevant option to consider for redness, but persistent redness needs more than a product category match. Rosacea can cause recurring flushing, lasting redness across the center of the face, visible blood vessels and burning or stinging. Other conditions can look similar. See a dermatologist if these signs persist or skincare changes do not help. Eye irritation, bloodshot eyes or swollen eyelids alongside these symptoms require immediate care.156

How should you try either product?

1. 1If your skin is sensitive, test the product on a quarter sized patch inside your arm every day for 7 to 10 days before applying it to your face.
2. 2Use the product on your face only if the test area remains clear. Follow the bottle's directions for amount, frequency and application order.

4. 4For rosacea prone skin, use a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, preferably containing zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or both.
