What is in the toner?
The Korean 150 ml Full Fit Propolis Synergy Toner lists water, butylene glycol, glycerin, betaine, propolis extract, panthenol, honey extract and sodium hyaluronate among its ingredients. Water comes first on that ingredient list. Check the list on the bottle you buy rather than assuming every version has the same formula. The product name alone is not a reason to assume a particular propolis percentage.1
Do you need it as well as moisturizer?
No. A toner is an optional step, not an entry fee for the rest of your routine. Modern toners can be formulated to hydrate skin, but moisturizer has the central job of adding moisture and preventing water from leaving. If you are choosing only one product to address dryness, choose moisturizer first.345
For skin that is consistently dry, choose a cream or ointment rather than relying on a toner or a light lotion. Creams preserve more water than lotions, and ointments are thicker still. For oily skin, a lighter gel moisturizer can be a better fit. With combination skin, give dry areas more moisture rather than automatically applying the same rich product everywhere.5
How should you fit it into your routine?
Use the toner after cleansing and before moisturizer. The sequence below is general routine guidance, not a special COSRX dosing schedule. You can place the optional toner step in your morning or evening routine; there is no need to build a longer routine around it.4
- 1Cleanse gently. Use lukewarm water and pat your face dry rather than rubbing. In the evening, remove makeup before cleansing.
- 2Apply the toner to clean, dry skin. A toner does not replace a cleanser or makeup remover.
- 3Follow with moisturizer. If your skin feels dry again later, reapply moisturizer rather than treating the toner as your only moisture step.
- 4In the morning, finish with broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
What should you expect?
COSRX markets the toner as "Honey Glow Prep," but there is no fixed improvement timetable to promise here. Treat the toner as an optional addition, not a replacement for a moisturizing routine. Put your budget into moisturizer before adding a toner, because "Synergy" is not a reason to give every bottle a colleague.36
Who should be careful?
If your skin is sensitive, test a pea sized dot behind your ear along your jawline and wait a day or two before applying the toner across your face. Introduce it separately from other new products so you can identify a reaction. Natural ingredients can still cause allergies; propolis and honey are not reasons to skip that caution.3
Stop using the toner if it causes burning, stinging or irritation, and tell your dermatologist. If dryness continues despite regular moisturizing, or becomes painful, cracked or bleeding, see a dermatologist rather than adding more toner. Avoid exfoliating dry, peeling skin; moisturizing is the more useful response.25
