What do the main ingredients do?
- Glycerin attracts water and helps keep skin hydrated. It is used in cleansers as well as moisturizers.
- Ceramides are fats naturally found in skin. They help maintain the protective barrier and retain moisture.
- Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture. The Africa market Hydrating Cleanser lists sodium hyaluronate in its formula.
Do all CeraVe cleansers contain the same ingredients?
No. Hydrating Cleanser is a nonfoaming cleansing lotion for normal to dry skin. Foaming Cleanser is intended for normal to oily skin and contains niacinamide, also called vitamin B3. CeraVe sells several cleansers, so the brand name is not an especially useful filing system.15
Another Hydrating Facial Cleanser formula contains methylparaben and propylparaben and names its ceramides as Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6 11 and Ceramide 1. Do not treat the Africa market list as a universal answer to whether your bottle contains a particular ingredient.2
