What does Eucerin Anti Pigment do?
Hyperpigmentation means areas of skin that become darker because the skin produces extra melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour. Sunlight, hormonal changes, ageing and inflammation can trigger it. Thiamidol reduces melanin production, helping existing spots fade and reducing the formation of new ones. The range targets pigmentation rather than simply covering it.23
Anti Pigment is not one product: the range includes serums, day creams, a night cream and a precision spot corrector, so the name on the shelf is only the beginning of the paperwork. This guide focuses on Dual Serum, Day SPF 30 Tinted Light and Night; other versions have their own formulas and directions. Tinted day creams come in Light and Medium, while the Skin Illuminating Serum is designed to boost radiance.3
Which Anti Pigment product should you choose?
| Product | Formula and finish | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Dual Serum | Thiamidol and concentrated hyaluronic acid. Light, quickly absorbed, non greasy and lightly fragranced. | Before moisturiser, for pigmentation across the face. |
| Day SPF 30 Tinted Light | Thiamidol, mineral colour pigments and UVA and UVB filters. Quickly absorbed tinted coverage. | Morning moisturiser with immediate coverage and SPF 30. |
| Night | Thiamidol and dexpanthenol. Non greasy and lightly fragranced. | Evening moisturiser for the face, neck and upper chest. |
| Spot Corrector | A topical applicator containing Thiamidol. | Precision application to smaller areas of pigmentation, before moisturiser. |
Choose Dual Serum if you want a pigmentation step before your existing moisturiser. Choose Tinted Light if you also want light coverage during the day; Eucerin describes it as suitable for all skin types and usable as a makeup base. Choose Night for an evening cream, or Spot Corrector for individual smaller areas rather than the whole face.145
The UK range lists Dual Serum at 30 ml, Day Cream SPF 30 and Night Cream at 50 ml, and Spot Corrector at 5 ml. Those are different product formats, not interchangeable bottle sizes.1
How do you use Eucerin Anti Pigment?
For a combined morning and evening routine:
- 1Cleanse before applying the care products.
- 2Apply Dual Serum once a day, morning or evening, and gently massage it into the skin.
- 3If using Spot Corrector at the same time, apply the serum first, then the corrector.
- 4In the morning, follow with Day SPF 30 Tinted Light on the face, neck and upper chest. Apply this cream once each morning.
- 5In the evening, apply Night to the cleansed face, neck and upper chest, after any serum or spot corrector.
Keep the total to a maximum of four applications of products containing Thiamidol per day. Each product application counts towards that total. Eucerin gives both once daily and morning and evening directions for Dual Serum, so follow your own pack; the combined routine above uses it once daily. Avoid eye contact with Dual Serum, Tinted Light and Night.456
How long does it take to work?
Dual Serum, Tinted Light and Night have first visible results after two weeks of regular use, with further improvement over time. Tinted Light also makes skin look more even immediately through its mineral colour pigments. The tint provides coverage straight away, which is a different job from persuading pigmentation to leave.15
Dual Serum reduced pigment spots by up to 75% in a clinical study of 34 women using it twice daily for 12 weeks. Separately, dermatologists graded a routine of Dual Serum, Day and Night, each used once daily for 12 weeks, in 457 patients across 11 European countries; the reported spot reduction success rate was 97%. That percentage describes success in reducing spots, not 97% removal of pigmentation.47
Dark spots can return after stopping Anti Pigment because melanin production can increase again. Regular use is needed to maintain the effect. Night also contains dexpanthenol, another name for panthenol, which supports skin regeneration and improves hydration in the outer layers of skin.6
Do you still need sunscreen?
Dual Serum does not protect skin from the sun. Day SPF 30 Tinted Light provides UVA and UVB protection, but choose higher protection for intense sun exposure. Sun protection matters even on cloudy days: sunlight triggers melanin production and can darken existing age spots, melasma and marks left after inflammation.245
Who should be careful?
Clinical testing reports good tolerability across skin types, including sensitive skin. Formula choice still matters: Dual Serum and Night are lightly fragranced, and the ingredient lists for those products and Tinted Light include Parfum and Alcohol Denat. Check the ingredients on your actual packaging before choosing a formula if you need to avoid particular ingredients. Eucerin updates formulas, so the carton gets the final word, despite being the least glamorous part of the purchase.4567
Melasma, larger patches of pigmentation often linked to hormonal changes, can occur during pregnancy or while taking birth control medicines. Some illnesses and medications also cause pigmentation. Seek medical advice about a spot that bleeds, itches or changes size or colour, or any dark spot that concerns you. A doctor can identify the cause rather than assuming every dark patch needs a cosmetic cream.2
