How to use Olay Regenerist products

What order should you use Olay Regenerist products in?

1. 1Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, then gently pat dry.
2. 2Apply any skin medication or treatment after cleansing. Follow your prescription directions if you use a prescribed treatment.
3. 3Apply any toners, serums and eye creams you use. Olay tells you to layer these treatments from thinnest to thickest. Use your ring finger to apply cream around your eyes gently.
4. 4Apply your Regenerist moisturizer. For the US Micro Sculpting Cream, Olay specifies a nickel sized amount across the face, gently massaged until absorbed.
5. 5Finish with sunscreen during the day. Apply makeup afterwards if you wear it.

How often should you apply the creams?

Use the US Micro Sculpting Cream daily; morning use needs sunscreen afterwards. For the Canadian Regenerist Ultra Rich Hydrating Moisturizer, smooth it evenly over your cleansed face and neck morning and night, after treatments and serums. In the morning, moisturizer goes before makeup. These are moisturizer directions, not a schedule for every product with Regenerist on the packaging.16

How should you start Regenerist Retinol 24?

The US range includes a Retinol 24 night serum and night moisturizers. General retinol guidance is to start every other night, then increase use gradually as your skin tolerates it. Put a serum in the treatment step and a night moisturizer in the moisturizer step. Follow the amount printed on your own pack rather than borrowing the Micro Sculpting Cream dose. During the day, use sunscreen, seek shade and wear clothing that protects you from the sun.123

Do not use retinol during pregnancy. If you have skin allergies, pronounced dryness, redness or inflammation, speak with a dermatologist before starting. Retinol irritation can trigger dark marks in darker skin. If irritation develops, stop increasing the frequency and seek advice about whether to continue. Using several antiaging products together can also irritate skin; adding a retinol serum and a retinol moisturizer together is not a sensible starting routine.25

Which Olay Regenerist product is best?

A matte finish and a rich cream are different choices, even when both jars have joined the same Regenerist club. If you want to avoid fragrance, the US range explicitly includes a fragrance free Micro Sculpting Cream. Do not assume the original cream is fragrance free: its ingredient list includes fragrance.13

What should you expect?

Olay describes immediate hydration for the Canadian Ultra Rich moisturizer. For the US Micro Sculpting Cream, Olay advertises an immediate reduction in the appearance of fine lines and visible results in two weeks. Treat those as product specific expectations, not a deadline for every Regenerist serum or cream.16
